BURSTS
Bursts are pipe failures that are typically large but of short duration. Most of these events can be identified relatively quickly due to large pressure changes usually detected by the utility, or by surging water witnessed above ground. Costs associated with bursts include: production and energy cost associated with the lost water, third-party damages, fines due to water damage, cost of repairs, regulatory fines for service interruption, and costs associated with premature asset replacement. Analytics can be used to detect and locate leaks and bursts––sometimes before they even happen––and provide visibility into other network and equipment anomalies.
